What is it?
Epilation is the process of threading the eyebrows. Instead than clipping the hair, the procedure eliminates it all, right down to the root. The first step is to thoroughly clean the skin beneath and around the brows with a mild cleanser or a brief alcohol wipe to ensure the region is sterile and the hairs are visible.
A technician will twist a strand of thread while holding it in between their hands, and occasionally while holding one end between their teeth. They will then quickly move the thread while holding the end of the twist over the hair portion you want to have removed. Hairs get caught in the twisting process and are lifted out entirely from between the threads.
The Pros of Eyebrow Threading
Of course, the speed of the process is a major benefit. There’s no waiting for the wax to cool or depilatory creams to dissolve the hair. The process is mechanically simple, and with practice, entire lines of hair are removed in seconds.
It’s less painful than many people expect, especially when compared to waxing or tweezing. Threading removes multiple hairs at once with no anticipation, so there’s very little time for pain receptors or your brain to react between removals. There’s also no contact with the skin, which makes it gentler for those who are acne-prone or have particularly sensitive skin.
